Valentine's Heart Wreath
My grandpa is a master carpenter. Seriously, he can make pretty much anything. He can look at something in a catalog, go out to his workshop and make it. So, when he told me he had a few wooden hearts he had sitting in the garage and wanted to know if I would like to have some, I jumped at the opportunity. He had cut them out of particle board for one of my cousins who didn't end up using them. I took about 5 of them home to see what I could use them for. One I wrapped in white acrylic yarn and glued red buttons all the way around the front of the heart. This one that I finished today I wrapped in some cotton variegated yarn I had leftover from another project. I had just enough to finish, but I love the way it turned out!
During Valentine's season I had my students do a craft of making a borax crystal heart for their mothers to give them on Valentine's day. I had a lot of Borax left over and decided to make a bunch of Borax hearts for myself. Some I used white pipe cleaners and some were used with red. I glued 3 of them to the front of my newly-wrapped heart wreath and there you have it! I am letting the glue dry before I add ribbon to hang it from the top.
I definitely think I will be doing more of these but change the way I prepare the wreaths. I may paint some or wrap them in different colors of yarn.
